Hamburger Steak

Mr. M is a very big fan of any kind of fast food. Burgers and fried chicken are his favorites. When we were dating, and until now, we often argued when we were out and it came to lunch or dinner time. He would want some fried chicken with chips. I wanted something freshly cooked with lots of veggies in it.

But from the time Andra was big enough to dine-out with us, means I no longer had too cook and pack his lunch before we went out on weekends, Mr. M was more to healthy food. He still prefers fast food though, but knowing that Andra practically eats anything (that means bell pepper and eggplant too), he's happy enough to dine-out in slow food restaurants.
This hamburger steak is my version of healthier hamburger. One of my treats for him. At least I know it's using fresh ingredients, right?

Here's the recipe.

Ingredients

A.
250 gr ground beef
1 egg, beaten
1/8 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 slice of white bread, crumbed
salt and pepper

B.
1C hot water
1T butter
1/2T oyster sauce (I ran out of worcestershire sauce)
1/4T corn starch, disolve in half cup of water

Directions

1. Mix all the ingredients A until combined.
2. Divide into 2 equal amount, shape to a circle or oval, about half inch thick. Make sure you have a firm shape.
3. Put butter onto the pan and turn on the heat to medium high.
4. When it's ready, carefully put the burgers on the pan for 3-4 minutes (until brown) and flip, cook for another 3-4 minutes. We are not cooking the whole burger, we're just browning the outside.
5. Pour the water, and cover the pan with a lid. Let it cook for 5 minutes until the inside is cooked through. Set aside but keep the remaining water on the pan.
6. To make the gravy, add the oyster sauce on the pan and mix well. Pour in the corn starch mix and mix until thickened. Serve with side dishes. Ours were french fries, tomato, and creamy spinach.
